Tvet Colleges DHET

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges are supervised and governed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa. As a governing organization, DHET makes that TVET colleges follow strict quality requirements and give students instruction that is pertinent to the workplace.

In this essay, we will discuss the importance of DHET in the TVET industry along with how it influences policy, fosters skill development, and promotes an excellence-oriented culture in TVET colleges.

The Department of Higher Education and Training administers the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, which falls under Post-School Education and Training (DHET). They accomplish this in collaboration with a number of other educational institutions and regulatory authorities, including the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) and the Quality Council of South Africa (QCSA). South Africa’s public TVET colleges have more than 700,000 students and continue to expand in popularity and student numbers.

The Department of Higher Education and Training has approved these colleges.

The department of higher education and training oversees TVET colleges. They concentrate on “vocational and occupational education and training with the goal of preparing students to work in a skilled trade as functioning workers.” Unlike universities, which require a bachelor’s degree, TVET colleges allow students who have completed Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12. Some colleges have up to 300 distinct courses to choose from. The National Certificate (Vocational), NATED / Report 191, NQF Full Time, and Learnerships are examples of these. Tvet Colleges DHET

what are TVET colleges?

Usually conversations around higher education in South Africa are centered on universities. But technical vocational education and training (TVET) colleges are also an important component of our tertiary education landscape. Here’s a crash course on these often overlooked spaces.

TVET colleges fall under the department of higher education and training. They focus on  “vocational and occupational education and training with (the) aim of preparing students to become functional workers in a skilled trade”. While universities require a bachelor’s pass at matric level, TVET colleges accept students who’ve passed Grade 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Some colleges offer up to 300 different courses. These include the National Certificate (Vocational), NATED / Report 191, NQF Full Time and Learnerships.
