SWGC Bursaries Application
SWGC is well-known for providing high-quality vocational training and education. Their main purpose is to make creative use of all college resources in order to improve service quality, employability, and student entrepreneurship.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a South African government student financial aid program that helps financially disadvantaged students pay for their higher education. The National Science Foundation supports the NSFAS with funding from the Department of Higher Education and Training. SWGC Bursaries Application
South West Gauteng College, formerly known as a Further Education and Training (FET) college, is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college run by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and governed by the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No.16 of 2006, as amended
Bursary Eligibility
SWGC Bursaries Application
- The bursary scheme is only open to South African nationals.
- Report 191/Nated or NC (V) students must be registered as well.
- Bursaries are awarded to students who are both financially needy (poor) and academically successful.
- A Means Test will be administered to each student to identify their financial need.
(This means that not every student eligible for a bursary will receive the same amount.)
Prospective students who wish to apply for the bursary must do that from the 1st of February to the 28th of February.
What The Bursaries Cover
The bursaries cover:
- Registration fee
- Tuition fee
- Food
- Accommodation or transport
- Learning material
- Personal care

SWGC Bursaries Application Requirements
To apply for the bursary, you must have the following requirements
- Identity Document/Birth Certificate
- Most recent Academic Results
- Confirmation of guardians pay (If parent/s utilized ,Demise Certificate/s (If parent/s expired)
- Specialist’s Certificate (If for all time crippled)
How To Apply For The Bursary at SWGC
- Complete a bursary application available from any available student support office at the college campus ( must be completed together with and during the enrollment processes).
- Complete a means test at any of the student support offices on campuses
- The means test is administered to access your family’s financial aid.
A means test tool calculates what amount if any, your family will be expected to pay toward your studies for the year.
Provide The Following Documents When Applying
- Two(2) copies of the student’s South African Identity documents or birth certificate
- Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ South African Identity documents
- Proof of income (salary or pension statement)or sworn Affidavit if proof is not available
- For first-time students, end-of-year results (Grade 9 to eligible)
- For new NC(v) level 2 and report 191 (N1 and N4) students, academic criteria must be applied using the school report from the preceding year and the selection and placement tool result For other students, previous year or trimester /semester result
- Proof of residence i.e. water/electricity rates bill or affidavit
- Students must sign a declaration summary of the student code of conduct
