Tvet Colleges are located throughout South Africa, and applications can be submitted online. There are 50 licensed and recognized public TVET institutes in South Africa, with 364 campuses spread across the country’s rural and urban areas. The Department of Higher Education and Training administers the Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006, which controls the formation and operation of public TVET colleges.
TVET colleges are supervised by the Department of Higher Education and Training. They focus on “vocational and occupational education and training with the purpose of equipping students to function as functioning workers in a skilled trade.” Students who have completed Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 are eligible to attend TVET colleges, unlike universities, which require a bachelor’s degree. Some colleges offer up to 300 different course options. These include the National Certificate (Vocational), NATED / Report 191, NQF Full Time, and Learnerships.
