- Signed bursary application form
- 5 Certified copies of I.D.
- Proof of income (grant, pensions, etc) of both parents OR
- An affidavit, if parents/sponsor/guardians are unemployed, deceased or their whereabouts, are not known
- Latest academic results of the applicant (average of 40%)
- Proof of residence
- I.D. or birth certificates of all household members
- Reports of all students in the household
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
Who is not eligible to apply?
- Students who have previously completed a qualification.
- Students from households with a combined annual income of more than R350 000.
- Students who have already applied, have been accepted and received financial assistance.
- If students pass their modules and achieve the academic standards, they will be automatically financed for the length of their studies.
- International students (any student who is not a South African citizen).
Nsfas Application Date
The application date open for the Nsfas 2024/2025 academic season begins in October 2024 and closes in November 2024.
What Is NSFAS And How Do I Get One?
NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

CRITERIA NEEDED WHEN APPLYING
- A minimum academic qualification of Grade 9 (nine) is required, with a minimum average of 40%.
- The annual gross income of your household must not exceed R 122 000.
- You must have an acceptable academic record and demonstrate the capacity to complete the program successfully.
- You must consent to continued counselling and academic evaluation.
- The Bursary will pay the cost of classes. It may also pay a portion of the cost of living and/or travel.
- Before any funds are given, the student must sign a bursary agreement for the bursary to be completely effective.

What Does The Nsfas Cover At Tvet College
The amounts mentioned for housing, living allowance, transportation, and learning materials must follow the most recent DHET criteria.
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
