Funding from the government

Assurance of high quality

At different levels, two bodies under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education (MHTE) are responsible for quality assurance. Through direct cooperation with industry, notably NAMACO and its many industrial committees, the Directorate of Standards Development and Quality Assurance (SDEQA) ensures the quality of TVET programs and institutions.

The Standards Development Research Unit, which is part of the Directorate, is responsible for producing occupational standards (SDERU).
The Higher Education and Examination Council (HEXCO) is responsible for overseeing the quality of private TVET institutions’ examinations, curricula, registration, and accreditation. HEXCO collaborates with industry stakeholders to ensure that standards are developed in response to industry demands.
