Distance Learning is suitable for students who are unable to attend classes regularly, who can study independently, and/or who are working full-time. The benefits of this mode of study include online and in-person lecturer support, experts to guide the student through the relevant subject matter, and the option to make inquiries telephonically or via email.

What is distance learning at TVET Colleges?

A wide variety of courses geared to give students useful, career-relevant skills are available at TVET colleges. Students can access these courses on digital platforms using distance learning, sometimes referred to as online learning, e-learning, or remote learning, which removes the limitations of geographic location and set schedules. It makes use of technology to give top-notch education in a flexible and approachable way.

Does TVET College’s NSFAS provide funding for online courses?

Thousands of South African students, including TVET college students participating in distance learning or online courses, can receive bursaries under the National Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas). The bursary program covers costs such as tuition, registration fees, meals, accommodation, books, and travel expenses.

What is the NSFAS allowance for distance learning?

Each academic year, R3,045
Students attending distance universities and taking a similar number of full-time credits are eligible for the R3,045 per academic year personal care payment. To qualify, a student must enrol in a minimum of 120 credits of classes during one academic year.
