Harvard University and the University of Oxford are among the world’s top ten most distinguished universities. The Institution of Oxford is an English college research university. Yale University can be traced back to the 1640s when colonial priests spearheaded an effort to build a local college in the European liberal arts tradition. Connecticut’s government approved a charter “to establish a Collegiate School” in 1701. In 1718, the institution was renamed Yale College after Welsh trader Elihu Yale, who had donated the proceeds from the sale of nine bales of commodities, as well as 417 books and a painting of King George I.

• At Harvard, your grades are more of a benchmark; you have to achieve a certain score, and if you have attained this minimum requirement, then it is no longer needed, which means it is likely you won’t be rejected because of your SAT score.
